That's the thing that drives me most crazy. The play is at the net, but the referee is 15 feet away standing in the corner. And then he blows the play dead because he lost sight of the puck even though it was no where near covered.

Maybe I'm just thinking of something I've seen in a movie, but I could've sworn 20 years ago that the referee used to jump on the back of the net to see the play in tight. Maybe the NHL told them to stop doing that because of the cameras overhead? The same reason the water bottle is no longer on the top of the net because goalies used to strategically place them so it obstructed the view from above. Those dastardly goalies always trying to gain an advantage. Like when they used to make a little snow mound on the goal line. But now with the ice cleaners coming out multiple times a period and clean that stuff up.
